The Foundation of Every Sound System: Electricity
Electricity is the lifeblood of every audio system, yet it often receives too little attention. The alternating current technology we still rely on today was developed over a century ago – for light bulbs and electric motors – not for powering the delicate analog and digital circuits in modern Hi-Fi and AV systems.
With the increasing transmission of data signals via power lines, growing voltage fluctuations, and overloaded supply networks (for example through phase-angle controls), our electrical infrastructure is being pushed to its limits. The result: degraded sound quality in high-fidelity systems.
Why Clean Power Matters
The sensitive components of a Hi-Fi system require exceptionally clean AC power. However, power lines are full of interference, causing up to one third of the fine information in high-resolution audio signals to be lost, masked, or distorted. These disturbances enter the signal path and permanently alter the original source material.
To fully exploit the ever-increasing bandwidth and dynamic range of today’s recordings, interference across a broad frequency spectrum must be reduced to an absolute minimum.
Our Approach
At SoundSpace Systems, we wanted to push the sonic performance of our loudspeakers and complete Hi-Fi systems even further. Our sound engineer has found what we like to call the philosopher’s stone of clean power – and the results have convinced everyone who has heard them.
With the SoundSpace Systems AC Power Conditioner Mozart, you’ll experience a new level of transparency, spatial depth, dynamics, and control. Unlike many other power conditioners that restrict musical dynamics, the SoundScape enhances clarity without compromising energy or musical flow. This was essential for us – so we took a completely different path.
Technology
The SoundScape is a purely passive filter, consisting only of coils and capacitors. We intentionally omitted resistors and even a power switch to minimize internal resistance.
The coils are current-compensated, meaning multiple windings in the same direction share a common core. This configuration effectively suppresses both asymmetric and common-mode interference currents flowing in the same direction through the supply lines. For the actual operating current – which flows in opposite directions (push-pull) – the inductance remains extremely low. The magnetic fields cancel each other out, preventing core magnetization and maximizing efficiency.
